What is a Record?
Record is a piece of information regardless of the form or medium, created or received,
maintained and used by an Individual or Organization in transaction of business or in fulfilling any legal obligation in order to provide evidence or reference.

Records can be categorized based on the following;
  • Ownership eg. Personal records, Organization records or Public record   
  • Form eg. Electronic or Papers based records
  • Stage which they are in this i to say active records, semi-active records and inactive records 
  • Value such as Historical or Evidential value
Under those categories we have various types of records such as;Financial records,Personnel records,Administrative records.Medical records,Education records,Legal records among others.
